Our Aim

At Rackerhayes Preschool is to provide enjoyable education for children from two years to school age in a safe and stimulating learning environment, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere, where children learn through play with an abundance of resources inside and outside, during term time.

Our Approach

Rackerhayes2.jpg

At Rackerhayes we operate as an open hall environment with a designated classroom where our education practitioners focus on specific areas of learning and school readiness.  This unique structure allows children to mingle, choose their activities and interact with peers of different ages.

Our daily routine is designed to balance freedom with structure and learning:

  • Throughout the day children learn through free play where they can explore arts and crafts, building activities and imaginative play at their own pace

  • Midday: Children have small adult led group activities with our professional staff including stories, songs, games, collaborative projects including various activities to promote speech and language development.

  • Throughout the day: Access to our outdoor play areas (including an undercover space for those rainy days) for fresh air and physical activities.

Providing both indoor and outdoor learning experiences provides a well-rounded education that combines structured activities with the freedom of nature. Children are encouraged to learn through a variety of sensory experiences, whether they are inside the classroom or outside environment.

Committee & Early Years Alliance

Rackerhayes is a community Preschool run by parents, grandparents, carers, volunteers and staff working together, similar to a Parent Teacher Association to provide the best quality care for your child. The committee meet once or twice per term and are responsible for reviewing policies and procedures as well as being involved in our fun fundraising events. As a charitable organisation we hold many fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for new equipment and resources for your child to enjoy. Everyone is welcome to join the committee, as a member you have a say in how we care for your child,  we value your opinions and ideas. Dates of Forthcoming meetings can be found in our half-termly newsletter or on our news and events section of our website.

Rackerhayes Preschool is part of the Early Years Alliance which allows us to run with a charitable status which enables us to apply for various grants, which in the past has helped us to develop our provision and learning environments including our sensory den and construction site.
