We accept children from age two until Primary School, with paid or funded places. Funding can be shared across two settings, with extra hours available for purchase.

Foundation Years

We follow Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines, offering a rich learning environment for children aged 0-5. Learning is through play and planned activities tailored to each child’s needs and interests.

About Us

Rackerhayes Pre-School is a community-run pre-school, supported by parents, grandparents, carers, volunteers, and staff, all dedicated to providing excellent care for your child. As a charitable organisation, we hold regular fundraising events to enhance our resources and equipment.

Our committee, which meets once or twice a term, reviews policies and organises these events. Everyone is welcome to join, giving you a voice in how we support your child’s development.

Meeting dates are available in our newsletter or on our website. We value your ideas and involvement!

How Long have you been established?

We have been established since 1985

Do you open during the school holidays?

Unfortunately we only operate during school term times, and do not open during school holidays

Do Children have to wear a uniform?

Uniform is not compulsery, but we do have a a uniform that is available to buy

Do you have availability all the time?

Normally we take names and accept places before the end of the current school year in readiness for the following year, but please conatct us as we may have spaces available for either Pre-school or sessions.

What do you have in place for transitioning to Primary School?

We work closely with all the local primary schools in Kingsteignton to ensure, the best and easiest transition from Pre-school to Primary school happens for your child or children

I have 2 daughters one of whom is currently at Rackerhayes and the other has just moved up to primary. I cannot speak highly enough of their handling of the transition. Really proactive in engaging with the primary school. They offer a very individualised approach and are aware of the children’s strengths and areas where they may need more support.

Supportive of our efforts in potty training our youngest, Communication is excellent on a daily basis

A special mention to Donna, the girls absolutely love her. I was a little anxious in sending the girls to a setting but, thanks to Rackerhayes, it’s be for them.

Early years settings urgently need more funding. The efforts the team go to in fundraising are above and beyond but in my opinion should not be necessary when providing children with an education

My daughter Lacey has been at Rackerhayes for 2 years and she has developed in so many areas due to the setting she goes to, she developed in her confidenceand learning. This is all down to the time and effort Rackerhayes staff and 1:1 teacher has put into Lacey, she is a very happy child when she goes in and when she comes out. I woild highly recommend this Pre-School setting. In areas that Lacey is less confident in they takje the time and effort to put a plan in place to help Lacey achieve her goals at Rackerhayes
